Rare Chiwara (“antelope”) sculpture/ headdress of hand carved wood, woven reed & metal accents. Tips of horns are wrapped in animal skin. Adorned with seashells. This beautiful “Bambara Chiwara” headpiece is from the Kehi Village of Mail, Africa. It stands at an impressive 52” tall.
This headpiece was used in ritual dances by the Bambara Tribe in association with agriculture harvests.
