This chair is truly a showpiece. In wonderful condition, especially for its age!
 
This chair is the nr16, also known as a "Gothic chair" because of the back-rest form which looks like a Gothic church window.
 
It was shown in product catalogue, circa 1865. The model went circa 1862 as first one of the first "high-backed" in series. In 1862 Thonet exhibited again in London and showed for the first time the chair type No. 16 in his furniture program.
